Marble was a good surface. Durable. It could withstand high levels of heat and one wipe with a damp cloth and voila - squeaky clean. Her mother made a good choice picking out the chocolatey brown surface for her kitchen worktops.
The black cooker was a fine touch too. It was rather unique and added finesse to the centre of the kitchen. The chocolate brown cupboards added to the deep, earthy feel of it all. It would have been quite gloomy had it not been for the spot lights fitted overhead and the warm beige tiles she had picked out for the flooring.
She walked into the kitchen for a quick drink and saw the state of the sink. It was one of those days where everyone had been out and no formal table had been set. Several trays indicated that everyone had eaten alone and at different times. It was distressing.
She began to channel her energy into making the kitchen squeaky clean. The minutes dragged on as she methodologically cleaned every nook and cranny. Wrapped in her own thoughts, she didn't notice the time nor her mother walking in for her customary cup of water before bed.
"Wow, the sink is glittering. Are you that annoyed?"
She grunted in return and turned to inspect her handiwork. It was perfect. Her mother was beaming at the fact that it looked so good.
She really needed to find a new way to exert all her distaste of the world and it's inhabitants.
